The honest version

What Disney Destiny is actually like

The Destiny takes the heroes-and-villains idea seriously, and the result is the first ship in the fleet that a fifteen-year-old will admit to enjoying. The theming is darker, the music is louder after 9pm, and the teen spaces are bigger and better hidden from parents than anywhere else in the fleet.

The Lion King rotational restaurant is the headline — Pride Lands is genuinely impressive — but the quieter win is the layout. The adult district is properly separated from the family areas on this ship, which means the two halves of a family holiday can actually happen at the same time without anyone feeling policed.

For younger children it is simply less magical than the Wish. Villains are villains, some of the theming is intentionally a bit menacing, and a four-year-old will get less out of it. If your children are under six, the Wish is the better ship.

Book it if

  • Families with 11–17 year olds
  • Multi-generation groups who want space apart
  • Adults sailing without children

Look elsewhere if

  • Children under six
  • Anyone expecting classic princess-led theming
  • Nervous first-timers — start with the Wish

Dining

Where you will eat

Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King

The best show-dining in the fleet. Worth arranging your rotation around.

1923

The reliable quiet one, as on the other Triton ships.

Worlds of Marvel

Interactive, and lands better with this ship’s older crowd.

Palo Steakhouse / Enchanté

Adults only, chargeable, booked early.

Kids and teens

  • The largest Vibe (14–17) space in the fleet
  • Edge for 11–14s, with its own deck access
  • Oceaneer Club — good, but pitched slightly older than the Wish
  • AquaMouse and a dedicated sports deck

Adults only

  • A properly separated adult district
  • Sanctuary spa
  • Quiet Cove pool, further from family noise than on any other ship
  • Late-night live music that is not show tunes
